Chris Booker - Singer-Songwriter

Hi there, so happy you stopped in to visit my website. You are probably wondering who is this person? If you don't mind I would like to tell you a little about me.

I am a native Texan, born in Houston, Texas to a family of music lovers. I can't remember a time when there wasn't some sort of music in my house. We all loved to sing and did all the time. I have been writing songs all my life but not seriously. Life took me on many journeys in the United States and Europe. I had a wonderful career in nursing and traveling with my husband who was in the United States Air Force. I always had this dream to play the guitar and sing songs but never really had the time. Finally, I retired in 2005, moved back to Texas and began pursuing my dream. Luckily I landed in Hunt, Texas, the heart of the Texas Hill Country where musicians and artists are everywhere!

But perhaps I should back up a bit. While living in Colorado before moving back to Texas, my father gave me a mandolin. I had no idea what it was much less how to play it. Fortunately for me, my best friend Camilla played fiddle and mandolin and was just getting back to playing as well. I took the mandolin to her house and handed it to her to show me. Soon after we decided to attend the Rocky Mountain Fiddle Camp in Estes Park, Colorado. That was a fabulous experience! Through the years we went back annually and I picked up the fiddle as well, but still not the guitar and still not singing.

So back to what I was saying before. When I arrived in Hunt, Texas I searched out a fiddle teacher to get serious about playing. I found Dick Walker. He was an inspiration in so many ways. Because of him I started writing songs, composing melodies and eventually picked up the guitar and learned to play it. Along the way I joined a group of musicians at a jam which eventually became the band Exit 505.  I am still with the band playing fiddle, mandolin and yes, singing.

Something else happened to me on the way to where I am today. God took center stage in my life. He lead me on this journey and re-introduced me to Jesus Christ. So, I joined the Hunt United Methodist praise team and eventually took a job as a co-leader along with Dan Stisser who is also the Exit 505 band leader. Together we lead worship at the Hunt United Methodist Church every Sunday morning at the 8:30 service.

Then, God started working on me and giving me these ideas for songs. I started writing songs about God's love and how it transformed my life. In 2015, my husband insisted I get these songs down in a recording. I knew what a big undertaking that would be so I sought help from a friend Tony Young. Together we worked for two years and produced the album "Live" .

If you visit my Facebook page you will learn about all the musicians who played on the CD and about Tony Young who is a genius at producing music. The songs are on the website as well as some videos with scripture. I hope you will take a little time and listen.

Thanks for stopping by! If you are ever in the area I would love to meet you. I perform with my husband and with the band frequently. You can usually find me from the calendar on this website or the calendar for Exit 505
